Race News!!

Wondai  races were held on the 18th  of August. With only minimal prize money, they still attracted most of the cameleers. Five races were ran over the day, with no cups run. As yet we do not have these race results. Wondai wrapped up the Queensland race circuit for 2001. From all reports it was again a successful year, for cameleers and race organisers.

Tara ran its inaugural camel races on the 11th and 12th of August.
400m Cup
1st: Tyson, 2nd: Commanche, 3rd: Jessie

1200m Cup
1st: King Casanova, 2nd: Sally, 3rd: Outlaw Bobalouie

Good to see old King Casanova still has a cup win in him. Well done to John Richardson trainer of Tyson.

Charleville's Great Matilda Camel Races were run over the 4th and 5th of August. Cup results were:
400m
1st: Sally, 2nd: Commanche, 3rd: Jessie

1200m
1st: Sally, 2nd: Jessie, 3rd: Outlaw Bobalouie

Sally won the camel of the day, after winning both the cups. Well done to the Cannard trained camels, Commanche and Jessie taking out three places, in the two Cups.

Blackall camel races were held on the 28th of July. The  distance cup was won by Sally (Healy). The  sprint cup was taken out by Outlaw Bobalouie (Glenda Sutton). Well done to Glenda, this being her first cup win. Blackall races were only a one day event this year, instead of being run over two days as it was for previous years.

Boulia camel races were held over the 20th/22nd of July, with the 2000m Cup being taken out by Bedourie Lass (Fred Gaitor), ridden by Judith Bullock. The 400m Cup was won by Sally (Healy).
Boulia again ran a successful race meet, with the crowds up from last year.
