Johnny Cake
Johnny Is an 19yo bullock and weighs over 600kg, he was born at Silverton.
Johnny is
very intelligent. He is the oldest of the working camels, and they all know he
is the boss.
Johnny is the lead camel and controls the string, all the other camels trust
him.
Johnny-Cake has appeared in many films and commercials. He was also a racing
camel when he was younger.
Paddy
Paddy is a 16yo bullock, a brother to Johnny and was also born at Silverton. He
is a veteran and one of the string of camels and has been doing rides since he
was 3yo. Paddy has slowed down a bit on the rides now, he leaves most of them to
the younger camels. Paddy appeared in the ABC movie Stark.
Katie
Katie is the sister of Johnny & Paddy. She is a 15yo cow and has been doing
rides for 12 years. Like Paddy, Katie is also semi retired. Katie is the boss of
the cow camels, she doesn't let anyone push her around.
Bali
Bali is a 12yo bullock that came from the wild in 1993. He has been doing rides
for 8 years. Bali also raced in a few races. Bali has appeared in many
commercials and also in the Hollywood movie "Queen of the Damned"
Bali and Heckle came from the wild together, they are now best friends. Bali is
the cheeky camel. He likes to annoy the other camels.
Heckle
Heckle is an 12yo bullock, the heaviest of the camels. He and Bail came from the
wild together and he has been doing rides for 8 years.
Heckle won the Patchewollock Camel Cup in 1994, it was his first ever race.
Heckle is the gentle giant of the camels. He loves attention and will lay around
for hours if someone is willing to pat him or brush him. He is also very lazy,
and would rather sleep, drink and eat than do any rides.
Cowgirl
Cowgirl is the baby of the working string, she is 5yo and came from the wild in
1998.
Although Cowgirl has'nt been tame for long, she has fitted right in with the
other camels.
She is a very hard worker and will do rides with small children up to elderly
people. Cowgirl is a very easy going and placid camel.
Baldy
Baldy is 5yo cow and came from the wild in 1998 with Cowgirl. Baldy is the vocalist
of the group. Baldy did'nt start doing rides as soon as Cowgirl. She had a bit
of a try at camel racing, but she was'nt cut out for that, so now she is part of
the string.
Chester
Chester is a 6yo apprentice lead camel. She came from the
Northern Territory in 1997.
Chester has tried her luck at racing and has travelled over Australia to most of
the camel races. She has retired from racing at the moment but may make a come
back when she is a few years older.
Tinkerbell
Tinkerbell is now retired, he is a 31yo bullock. He is huge and
stands 7ft 8" at the shoulder, he is the tallest of the camels. He came
from the Northern Territory in 1974, so he has been at Silverton for a long
time.
Tinker has been in many commercials and movies, including Mad Max II, he starred
in a New Zealand Insurance commercial.
Tinkerbell was also a racing camel, he raced until he was 23.
Humphrey
Humphrey is the baby of all our camels, he was born at Silverton in
September 1998. He is a bull camel, but is still only a little fella. He spends
most of his time hanging around with Tinkerbell, eating. At times he can be very
cheeky, but he mostly keeps to himself.
